Shabby Mail Holder

shabby french mail organiser
I couldn’t even tell you when I got this mail holder. It has been sitting around my junk bits ever since I was a little kid. It came to me as a completely blank canvas. Over the years it has been blue, green and now white. I painted it with a really old tube of white acrylic and sanded down the edges and corners. Now you can see all those old colours showing through. Not only does it look great in my new kitchen but it has been doing it’s job and tidying the bench up excellently!

  3. I love when the past shows through on a piece. I have a white cabinet that I want to paint other colors and then go back to white so I can sand down to the other colors.

    Your little caddy looks great.

  6. I have a mail holder like this and I use it a lot. Kirsty the soap you inquired about on The Charm of Home blog is vegan, except for the beeswax. The giveaway is open to US residents only though. I am sorry. I had to clarify that. Please feel free to order their products using the discount code if you are interested. Thank you for stopping by.

  8. i love what a little bit of refurbishing can do. And I love repurposing old items!
Don't you just feel great after such a little project? I always do.

It is a very nice item as well. We get most of our mail electronically and the few items that come via snail mail are usually sorted into a filling tray, my reading pile (Yoga Journal magazine) and stuff that needs to be dealt with. I have always wanted one of these though, I just can't convince myself to buy something that I know I want as opposed to need.

  9. Love all the other colors showing through. I have an old file box that I want to do the same with for my (soon to be) craft room. Thanks so much for hopping over and sharing with Share Your Cup. Hope you share often!
