MERRY CHRISTMAS & HAPPY NEW YEAR to all my online friends!

I had so many planned posts coming your way this holiday season but with so much work to do before the big day I'm afraid all my big plans for this little ol' blog have fallen through. But the good news is photos have been taken, projects have been completed and others are on their way to being completed so I will have a full Santa sack of new DIY projects and posts coming your way in the New Year.

So for now, I wish all a very happy holiday!

Happy New Year 2015, Resolutions and Puppy Love

Happy New Year everyone! I hope you've all been able to celebrate and make wonderful plans for 2015! I have quite a lot of new years resolutions... I'm not sure whether that's a good thing because it means I have hopes and dreams or whether it's a bad thing because I'm not already doing everything I want. Either way though, I do and one of them is getting this whole blogging thing organised.

Playing in the Garden with Spot

It's been far too long since I shared my last photos of Spotty on here with you all. If you missed my last post then you may not be aware that I recently homed and fell in love with this little Kelpie x Smithfield puppy. You also might not be aware that even though his name is Spot, he recently lost the spot that he was named after. It's currently just two tiny little white hairs on the back of his neck!

5 Things I've Learnt in My Puppy's First Week

Hello Lovelies! I have some exciting news to share with you all! Judging by the title of this post and the photo above, I expect you have already deduced what it is!

Yep! I've got a beautiful little puppy called, Spot. He is a Kelpie x Smithfield (a Tasmanian Sheepdog) and It's been a hectic week I tell you! He is just lovely and I love him so! However, he's also intense, so intensely intense that there are things I really wish I had known before we picked him up at 6 weeks old. We've gotten some things right and some things not so right.

Here's what I've learnt so far:

How Do You Stop Cats Fighting?

As most of you already know, this is my little baby Duke, sitting in our bird bath. Isn’t he super cute. He loves it in there. I’m not sure that the birds do though.
I know a lot of my readers have lovely pussy cats too and I want to know how you stop them from fighting with the neighbourhood cats. And here’s where this guy, Harry, comes in:

Harry and Duke fight, a lot. Like.. full on brawls. Duke has heaps of holes in his ears now. You all know I’m vegan and I love all animals but I have mixed feelings for this one! haha I kind of want to kill him for beating up my little boy. Don’t get me wrong, Duke is huge and can definitely hold his own. The problem is Harry has always been king of this neighbourhood and used to be best friends with the cat that used to live here, before we moved in… he even comes inside using the cat flaps.

There are other neighbourhood cats, lots of them in fact. When they come over Duke beats them up and they don’t come back. Harry and Duke however are both massive and too evenly matched meaning both of them keep going back for more and more.

So aside from getting out the hose, which I have done many times, what are your tips for fighting cats. Got any ideas?

1930’s Vintage Kitchen Dresser

Andi and I picked this baby up after finding it on Gumtree the other day. We weren’t after anything for this spot or a new cupboard but once I showed Andi, we both had to have it. After getting it home we scrubbed it down. The last person to paint it didn’t do a very good job and the paint work was sliding right off it. We may paint it again down the track but for now we’re just enjoying it as is. So is Duke. He will never sit still for a photo but he decided to pose for me. The dresser matches his eyes.

Yawn! Of course I love this shot. hehe

On the Deck

This week Andi and I completed our table setting on our new deck with wooden table and chairs and awesome huge umbrella. Perfect! We have been enjoying some summer al fresco dining in the shade.

Duke has also been enjoying the shade under the chalet.

Indiana Jones

This is what happens when it’s cold and windy and there are no flowers to speak of… You go back inside and take photos of your cat.

Princess

Meet Princess, she lives in my neighbourhood and likes to come over for visits. She’s very pretty so my little sisters named her Princess. We’re pretty sure our kitty, Indiana, likes her quite a bit.

Don’t worry, this was just a yawn. She didn’t maul me or anything.

Hide & Seek

I had a lot of fun taking some shots of my kittens in the garden the other day. I also had a lot of fun doing them up and fiddling around with them on Picnik. I do love that site. Do you use it?

These are just a few of the shots I got while Indiana and Duke were playing. Indie was very interested in following Duke around and watching him. Very cute.

Catty Birthday + Kirsty & Friends Linky Party

This week it was Duke’s Birthday! Yay! He got lot’s of pressie’s, toy mice, paper planes etc. I wrapped mine up because I thought he would enjoy the wrapping the most. No sticky tape, just lots of long curly ribbon and noisy tissue paper. Of course he loved it.
Here are a few photos of him unwrapping his gift. I won’t show you him in his party hat because he hated it so much. It was very funny though. I love it when kitties walk backwards thinking it will somehow get rid of the thing around their head. hehe!
